Serving Opportunities

A great way to get connected and to grow at Westlake is to join a serving team. There are many opportunities at Westlake for people to use their gifts and talents to serve God and to serve others. Check out the list below (organized by ministry area), and for more information, or to find out how to start serving on a team, give us a call at the Westlake office (847-669-0475).

 

CELEBRATION SERVICE:

Drama Team: Help illustrate God’s truth through drama during the Celebration Service. Act, help construct sets, or help move props onto and off of the stage.

 

Focus Team: Help worshipers connect with a Scripture truth related to a theme of the Celebration service by means of a brief reflection on a passage of Scripture.

 

Guest Services: Help guests and Westlake family members feel welcomed before and after the Celebration Service.

 

Greeter/Usher: Greet warmly all guests and Westlake family members entering the Celebration Service, distribute programs, help direct guests and connect them with Westlake regulars, help collect the offering, and help usher for the Lord’s Supper.

 

Hospitality Table Host: Help set up and take down the Hospitality Table, and help provide information for guests and Westlake regulars before and after the Celebration Service.

 

Media Tech: Help set up or run the lighting and video equipment for the Celebration Service.

 

Sound Tech: Help set up or run the sound equipment for the Celebration Service.

 

Worship Team: Help lead people to worship during the Celebration Service through playing a musical instrument or singing.

 

SPLASH! (CHILDREN’S MINISTRY):

Coordinators: Help with the behind the scenes, day-to-day operations (supplies, snacks, copies, etc.) of Splash during the week or on Sunday mornings.

 

Set Up Team: Help deliver, set up and take down equipment for the Splash! children’s ministry on Sunday mornings.

 

Welcome/Sign-in: Greet warmly guests and Westlake families, and help parents sign their children into their Splash! classrooms.

 

PuddleJumpers (6 weeks – preschool)

PuddleJumpers Team Helper: Help the PuddleJumpers team teacher care for and play with preschool children, interact with parents, set up and clean-up the classroom on Sunday mornings during the Celebration Service.

 

PuddleJumpers Team Teacher:

Connect with preschool children and their families on Sunday mornings during the Celebration Service; care for the children’s needs; provide a safe, creative and fun experience; and share a Bible story.

 

WaveBlasters (Kindergarten to 5th grade):

WaveBlasters Activity Station Coordinators: Help set-up, clean-up and maintain games, crafts and activity supplies used in WaveBlasters on Sunday mornings during the Celebration Service.

 

WaveBlasters Large Group Team: Help kids discover God’s love and participate in an exciting, large group, learning experience through storytelling (teaching), activity, drama and music.

 

WaveBlasters Small Group Team: Help small groups of kids to grow in their relationships with one another, their families, yourself and most importantly, Jesus!

 

WaveBlasters Tech Team: Help set up and operate the audio-visual equipment used on Sunday mornings in WaveBlasters.

 

FAMILY MINISTRY:

Emerge: Connect with a small group of students (6th-12th) who learn best in a quieter yet creative and fun environment.

 

Quench: Write articles sharing your expertise or experience for a bi-monthly publication for families.

 

S.W.I.M. Sensational Worship in Motion): Connect with K-5th families through large group worship, music, drama, games and fun one evening a month. Greet guests, serve snack, or help lead a small group of kids or parents.

 

STUDENT MINISTRY:

Surge (Middle School): Help middle school kids connect with God and each other in a positive and safe atmosphere. Connect with kids one on one, teach, or help with setting up events.

 

F.O.G (High School): Help high school kids connect with God and each other in a positive and safe atmosphere.

 

Shockwave: Help students (5th- 12th) illustrate God’s truth through dramas presented in the Splash! ministry and in special programs and events.

 

ADULT MINISTRIES:

Group Life: Help people get connected with a small group of other Westlakers and grow as followers of Christ together. Help people get connected in a short term (from 4 weeks to one year) group, or lead a long-term group.

 

Main Events: Help people get and stay connected to the Westlake family through planning and putting on various social events. Help plan, coordinate, host or pull off an event.

 

Prayer Team: Help pray with teams of others for the needs of the Westlake family and the community and world in which we live.

 

Serve: Help the people of Westlake to meet practical needs of people within the Westlake family and in the surrounding communities.

 

WOW: Help the women of Westlake connect and serve through events and opportunities to care for people within the Westlake family and the surrounding communities.

 

OPERATIONS TEAM:

Help Westlake develop and manage facilities and finances, and help provide direction in legal matters.

 

Office Cleaning: Help keep the Westlake office clean by performing regular or periodic cleaning tasks.
